I’ve decided that it was time Austin, Dolce and I joined the blogging world. I was a little jealous that everyone was keeping in touch with each other but us. J
This year has proven to be memorable for Austin and me. I’ve got to say that with all the changes that occur in our lives, Austin has maintained his happy spirit. I’ve started comparing him to a willow tree, willing to bend in any direction.
Austin is mid way through his 5th grade year at school. While it’s not one of his favorite things to do, he has been able to maintain A’s and B’s. Most recently Austin competed in the school Spelling Bee. He was one of 30 students who qualified to participate. It was a very proud moment for me.
You may know that reading is Austin’s jam! He was the first 5th grader in his school to finish reading 25 books in the first half of the school year. Currently I’ve suckered him into the beloved “Twilight” series. He can’t get enough of it. It’s funny to be able to have a conversation about Edward, Bella and the gang with him.
As far as my crazy life goes, I started a new position with Elkins Constructors Inc. in their marketing department. This has by far been the best job I’ve ever had. It has been a learning process, one that I’m taking full advantage of. I have to give credit to my boss and co-worker. They have made learning this job fun, interesting, and rewarding. I’m still slowly trucking along with school. It has been a long uphill battle, but I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.
We’ve added an addition to our family, Dolce. Dolce or little Dolce as the extended family likes to call him, came into our family during a time when happiness was desperately needed. It’s been a little over a year since we got him and I’m not sure life would ever be the same if he weren’t around. He has brought us great joy and I truly believe in the healing power of pets.
In a few weeks Austin and I will be moving once again. We are moving in the City!! I’ve found a home that was built in 1909, completely rehabbed and had been up for sale for over a year now. The owner decided to rent it out with an option to buy after a year. It’s an amazing home. It sits on a 200 foot lot, has 3 porches, 2 fireplaces, original hardwood floors, and a gourmet kitchen. We are really excited about it.
I want to let my family and extended family know how grateful I am to have them in our lives. I know that it sometimes seems we are the odd balls out, but all of your thoughts, cares and concerns are heard with an open heart. We love you all very much.
